Fun, relaxation, and adventure at 7 Ladders
In recent years, the 7 Ladders Canyon has benefited from substantial funding provided entirely by the Local Public Forest Administration of Săcele. Since 2013, the canyon has been supported by large-scale investments, necessary for tourists to enjoy maximum safety. On the one hand, the investments were aimed at the safety of exploring the canyon, and in this regard, passages were rebuilt and secure metal ladders were installed to allow tourists of any age to explore the 7 Ladders Gorge. On the other hand, the upgrades aimed to attract tourists of different age groups to the area and to offer them more leisure opportunities. Part of the investment went into the installation of the zip-line, which is 4 km long and offers 37 trails of different lengths, the longest trail being 273 meters.
- The hike from Dâmbul Morii to the access to the canyon takes about an hour on an easy trail.
- The crossing of the Canyon is of medium difficulty and takes 30-45 minutes maximum
- The ladder system inside the Canyon is safe, recently renovated, and does not require high-performance equipment.
Access to the 7 Ladders Canyon
Located near Brasov, the 7 Ladders Canyon is a top tourist attraction for both Romanians and foreigners. Access to the trail is located 3 minutes from the Dâmbul Morii Estate, where the trails start in Piatra Mare. Tourists can follow the yellow line trail from the Timișul de Sus Locality on National Road 1, which follows the course of the Șipoaia Creek and leads to the Canyon. It is a moderately difficult trail that can be covered in about an hour.
Crossing the Canyon
Tourists can now cross the Canyon using the nine metal ladders and walkways, which have been completely renovated for the safety of tourists of all ages. The interior of the Canyon is characterized by the 7 steps with heights ranging from 2.5 to 15 meters that turn into waterfalls when the volume of the 7 Ladders Creek increases. The tallest of the 7 cascades is 35 meters high and is a spectacle of nature. Crossing the canyon takes no more than 30 minutes.
Piatra Mare Peak
After crossing the canyon, tourists can return to the base following an alternative trail through the forest. It is not allowed to return through the canyon. Tourists are also encouraged to enjoy a new experience, namely to return to the base using the zip-line installed in the forest. For those who still have the energy and appetite for hiking, the Piatra Mare Peak is waiting to be conquered. The trail to the top is of moderate difficulty and takes about 3 hours.

To get to the 7 Ladders Canyon, tourists need to reach Timișul de Jos, which is located between Predeal and Brasov on National Road 1. Tourists arriving from Bucharest direction will turn right onto the road leading to the Dâmbul Morii Estate. After crossing the bridge over Timiș, cars can be parked at the barrier. The trail takes no more than an hour from the barrier to the Canyon.
Although crossing the 7 Ladders Canyon is made easier by the modern secure ladder system, we recommend that tourists wear waterproof boots or special trekking shoes and thicker clothing, as the temperature inside the canyon is cooler. Children are only allowed if accompanied by at least one adult.
7 Ladders Canyon is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm from April through October. During winter, no access is allowed inside the Canyon due to the high risk of accidents that can be caused by ice build-up.
